1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, unless the context otherwise requires:
- “Center” refers to Al-Sham Medical Center, located at Arua City, Plot 21, Go Down Road, Uganda.
- “Patient” refers to any individual who accesses or receives medical services from the Center.
- “Services” includes all medical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and support services offered by the Center including dental, radiology, surgery, ophthalmology, and general medicine.
- “Website” refers to the online platform at al-shammedicalcenter.com.

2. General Terms
By accessing or using the services and facilities of Al-Sham Medical Center, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or that you have the legal capacity to enter into these terms. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must accept these terms on your behalf.
You agree to use our services only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use and enjoyment of the Center’s facilities.
3. Medical Services
3.1 Scope of Services
Al-Sham Medical Center provides a range of medical services including but not limited to:
- General medicine and primary healthcare
- Dental services and oral care
- Radiology and diagnostic imaging
- General surgery and minor procedures
- Ophthalmology and eye care
- Pediatric care
- Laboratory and pathology services
- Emergency and urgent care
3.2 Medical Disclaimer
The information provided on our website and during consultations is for general informational purposes only and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions regarding a medical condition.
Al-Sham Medical Center makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability, or availability of any medical information provided.
3.3 Treatment Consent
By proceeding with any medical treatment or procedure, you provide informed consent, which means you understand the nature of the proposed treatment, the expected benefits, potential risks and side effects, any available alternatives, and the consequences of not proceeding. You may withdraw consent at any time before or during a procedure.
3.4 Emergency Services
Emergency services are available 24/7. However, Al-Sham Medical Center is not a full emergency department and may refer critical cases to appropriate tertiary facilities. We are not liable for outcomes resulting from delayed presentation to our facility for conditions requiring immediate specialist intervention.
4. Appointments
4.1 Booking
Appointments can be booked via our website, phone (+256 786 876 928), WhatsApp (+256 781 044 424), or in person. Appointment requests are subject to availability.
4.2 Cancellation and Rescheduling
We request that you provide at least 24 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling of non-urgent appointments. Failure to provide adequate notice may result in a missed appointment fee as outlined in our fee schedule.
4.3 Waiting Times
While we strive to maintain minimal waiting times, actual wait times may vary depending on patient volume and emergency cases. Al-Sham Medical Center does not guarantee specific appointment times and reserves the right to reschedule when necessary due to medical priorities.
5. Patient Responsibilities
As a patient, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete medical history, including current medications, allergies, and previous conditions
- Follow the treatment plan and instructions provided by your healthcare provider
- Inform us immediately of any changes in your condition or adverse reactions to treatment
- Arrive on time for scheduled appointments and bring relevant documents
- Pay all fees associated with services rendered in a timely manner
- Treat all staff, other patients, and visitors with respect and dignity
- Comply with all facility rules and regulations
6. Fees and Payment
6.1 Transparency
We are committed to transparent pricing. All fees for services, procedures, and treatments will be clearly communicated to you before they are rendered, wherever possible. A written estimate can be provided upon request.
6.2 Payment Methods
We accept cash, mobile money, bank transfers, and recognized insurance plans. Payment is due at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made with our billing department.
6.3 Insurance
If your treatment is covered by insurance, it is your responsibility to verify coverage with your provider prior to service. Al-Sham Medical Center will assist with insurance claims where possible but is not responsible for decisions made by your insurance company regarding coverage or reimbursement.
6.4 Unpaid Accounts
Unpaid balances beyond 30 days may incur a late payment fee. Accounts overdue by more than 90 days may be referred to an external collection agency. The patient remains responsible for all collection costs incurred.
7. Privacy and Confidentiality
All patient information is treated as strictly confidential in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. We comply with data protection requirements and will not share your personal or medical information with third parties without your explicit consent, except as required by law or for purposes directly related to your care.

8. Intellectual Property
All content on our website, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of Al-Sham Medical Center or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content without our written permission.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Ugandan law:
- The Center shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our services or website.
- Our total liability for any claim arising from services provided shall not exceed the total fees paid by you for the specific service in question.
- We are not liable for the actions or omissions of third-party service providers, contractors, or consultants engaged on your behalf.
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, supply chain disruptions, or government actions.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Al-Sham Medical Center, its directors, employees, agents, and affiliated practitioners from any claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your use or misuse of our services, or your violation of any applicable law or third-party right.
11. Termination
Al-Sham Medical Center reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services to any patient at its discretion, provided that no patient is refused in a genuine medical emergency. We also reserve the right to terminate website access for users who violate these terms.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Continued use of our services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify patients of significant changes.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be referred to arbitration in Arua, Uganda, in accordance with the Arbitration Act.
